A Bit About Myself
As I look back upon earlier years, I remember reading about the practice of yoga. So many people that I looked up to such as Madonna, Christy Turlington, Sting were also practicing yoga. My interest was piqued and I began to study and learn more about the practice. When I moved to Chicago, I began taking classes all over the city-Vinyasa, Hatha, Bikram and Kundalini! I learned to move and breathe-and to move and breathe at the same time. I learned to stand on my head and to breathe through alternate nostrils. I learned to sit in stillness and to observe. The Chicago winter months were used wisely to improve my practice, to find grace in the postures, to flow with my breath, to sink a little deeper and I learned to connect with my body and to create a more calm mind. A few years later, I moved to Austin Texas. I found a yoga studio and fell in love with the teachers, the vibe and everything it offered. One year later, I signed up for teacher training. I never once thought about what I was doing, its like the universe was working through me! The things I learned in teacher training only prepared me to inquire more. To study more. To practice more. Since then I have maintained my practice, taught hundreds of public yoga classes and have taught yoga and meditation retreats all over the wold.

I've traveled to far places and have sat with gurus, practiced with amazing teachers, dipped my body in Ganga Ma (Ganges River), danced in holy temples, meditated in the most beautiful sunsets, participated in puja ceremonies and sang mantras during many satsangs. And, this fulfilling journey has led me to here and now.
My passion lies in studying Hindu Mythology and Yoga Philosophy. I tend to teach yoga classes that weave asana and mythology together including fluid movement and carefully chosen postures to strengthen the body and to prepare the body for meditation. I urge students to practice yoga to develop a deeper understanding of their 'true self'. My classes are challenging but fun, safe, light-hearted and accessible to all levels and I invite every student to be satisfied with their yoga practice as it is today and to enjoy their own journey. You will find my love of music pours into my teachings and I love to infuse my studies of the chakra system and Tantra yoga philosophy into my classes.
